#Nigeria: FG inaugurates a 23-member FRC Board

The Federal Government of Nigeria on May 6, 2017 inaugurated a 23-member Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) Board. Speaking at the inauguration, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah said the selection of the new board will enable the organisation carry out its mandates more effectively.

This development brings to remembrance that the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) had on October 17, 2016 released the National Code of Corporate Governance, which was later suspended by the President out of several controversies; the management of the council had also been replaced.

Hopefully, with a new board in place, the situation of the codes might be revisited soon.
