Northern Michigan University students organize Clothes Swap to encourage Sustainability
Northern Michigan University student’s created a group called EcoReps whose aim is to promote sustainability practices in the University. On March 22nd 2018, EcoReps held a Clothes Swap Event, were Students, staff and community members were able to drop off unwanted clothing and pick up something gently used. The goal of the event was to reduce clothing waste, that’s right in line with the goal of sustainability week.
CupCycling wins national sustainability awards
CupCycling is the world’s first recycling technology dedicated to recycling disposable cups and turning them into beautiful papers and consumer packaging products. The CupCycling Initiative received the Sustainability Award at the 2018 Foodservice Packaging Association Awards that recognizes responsible manufacturing, sourcing, usage and disposal of food packaging.

Children Story Book Educates Children on Sustainability
Jeremy Jackrabbit, a locally created children’s book series, emphasizes sustainability efforts and environmental education. It educates children about rainwater harvesting, recycling, harnessing sun rays and re-using Earth’s precious resources.The series centers around a fictional character called ‘Jeremy Jackrabbit’ and its efforts to live a more sustainable life and leave a small environmental footprint.
