South Africa joins African Continental Free Trade Area agreement (AfCFTA)

South Africa, alongside five other African countries, signs the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement (AfCFTA);  a treaty between consenting countries that allows member countries to conduct trade with each other without tariffs or other hindrances. African Union Summit which took place in July this year, saw South Africa, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Lesotho and Burundi take the total signatories to 49 of the 55 member states. Read more
