Lafarge Africa records increase in net sales

Lafarge Africa Plc recorded a total net sales of N162 billion for the first half 2018 and N82 billion for the second quarter of 2018 which represents an increase of 5% and 11% respectively compared to the corresponding period in 2017, mainly driven by Nigeria’s strong operational performance. Lafarge Africa delivered strong margins in its Nigerian business however was affected by the poor performance in South Africa. Read more

Half the population of sub-Saharan Africa would be subscribed to mobile phone by 2025; GSM Association predicts

A recent report from the GSM association estimates that there would be 634 million unique mobile subscribers across sub-Saharan Africa by 2025, which is equivalent to 52 per cent of the population. The report, which was published at the just concluded GSMA ‘Mobile 360  Africa’ event in Kigali, Rwanda. Read more

The International Energy Agency (IEA) publishes its 2018 World Energy Investment report

The World Energy Investment report highlights the ways in which present investment decisions determine energy supply and demand in the future. The executive director of the International Energy Agency noted that there has been a decline in global investment for renewables which could threaten the expansion of clean energy needed to meet energy security, climate and clean-air goals.  Read more
