Aramark Improves Family Health in Los Angeles

As part of Aramark’s ongoing commitment to health and wellness, Aramark Building Community Day (ABC Day), the company’s global day of service, supported the company’s Healthy for Life® 20 by 20 commitment with the American Heart Association to improve the health of Americans by 20 percent by 2020.

This event marked the second year of an ongoing partnership between Aramark and the Youth Policy Institute. Aramark volunteers led food discovery workshops for elementary school students, including cooking demos, healthy eating classes and food tastings. In addition, the team created inspiring health and educational murals to provide a more engaging environment for learning. Around the world, thousands of Aramark associates, including chefs, nutritionists and dietitians, volunteered at community centres and non-profit groups as one demonstration of the year-round dedication of Aramark employees to strengthening local communities.

The effort was part of Aramark Building Community, the company’s year-round global volunteer and philanthropic program. Since 2008, Aramark has invested more than $9 million in expertise, financial and in-kind resources to empower youth and adults to lead healthier lifestyles and succeed in the workforce, in partnership with community centres in 52 cities. More than 35,000 employees have dedicated their skills and expertise through hundreds of volunteer projects affecting millions of people.
