Bow Seat 2019 Ocean Awareness Student Contest for Students Worldwide

Harnessing the power of the arts to educate, inspire, and activate younger generations, Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs is committed to spreading a global message of care. Bow Seat provides an innovative space for teens to connect, create, and communicate for the ocean. Working at the intersection of ocean science and arts education, they organize award-winning programs that emphasize creative thinking and making in exploring the natural world.

This year’s theme is “Presence of Future: A CREATIVE CHALLENGE FOR TEENS WORLDWIDE”. The challenge is to create a piece about a coastal/marine species, place, or system in 2019 that will be threatened, altered, or lost due to climate change. Submissions are accepted in Visual Art, Poetry, Prose, Film and Music.

Students from around the world are invited to participate in the Ocean Awareness Contest. Junior Division is between the age of 11-14 and senior Division is between the age 15-18. All students must also provide the contact information for an adult sponsor (teacher, parent, mentor, etc.). Students may participate as individuals or a group of any size.

Awards in cash will be given at both the Junior and Senior divisions. Submission Deadline: June 17, 2019, at 11:59 PM Eastern Time (ET).
