CITGO Petroleum Corporation and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) are celebrating a 30-year partnership that has raised nearly $200 million for the non-profit health organization since January 1986. Being MDA’s largest corporate sponsor, CITGO, its employees and its network of locally-owned Marketers and Retailers, will celebrate this milestone all year long through fundraisers and various community and employee events.
MDA President & CEO, Steven Derks, expressed his gratitude for CITGO’s support over the last 30 years, stating that a standard has been set in the journey to discovering treatments and cures for neuromuscular diseases.
The year-long celebration kicked off with contribution to all local MDA offices where their annual Marketer Roundtable Meetings were held within the company’s marketing footprint. It also provided funds for 19 local offices during these meetings. The company also recognized those Marketers who raised more than $5,000 for their respective local MDA office throughout 2015.
Continuing throughout the year, CITGO employees, Marketers and Retailers will host multiple fundraisers and sponsor a number of local events including a Rally Week by CITGO corporate employees and fundraising by CITGO terminal and refinery employees.
Rick Esser, Vice President, Supply and Marketing for CITGO said that the relationship between CITGO and MDA has expanded over the years to become an integral part of CITGO’s Corporate Social Responsibility.
