TransCanada Liquids Pipelines are emphasizing on the need for safety of the public and the environment against the hazards of their activities. The need to be ready for emergencies arising from its energy and pipeline systems is also magnified.
As part of its Emergency management System, 125 emergency drills have been done across its network of assets. These drills and exercises are used to improve the plan, training, outreach and collaboration of the company. The highly trained staff are said to work with first responders and other agencies to minimize the impact of any accident that may occur.
The most recent emergency exercise of TransCanada saw about 100 staff, government officials, regulatory agencies and first responders participate. The training was meant to put to test the whether or not TransCanada can respond and recover an oil on water that was covered by ice.
