A N59.7 billion Youth-In-Agriculture scheme will be inaugurated by the Federal Government of Nigeria in September 2016.
The scheme will be funded by the Federal Government and the African Development Bank (AfDB) and would train its participants on using proper networking to make profits from agriculture. There will be a training session by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA, tagged ‘Enable Youth Empowerment Agribusiness programme’ for a period of eighteen months to teach participants on how to make a business plan after which an amount of money between 25,000 US dollars and 300,000 US dollars will be loaned out to each participant to start a business.
The utmost expectation from this scheme is to make youths become creator of jobs rather than job seekers. Therefore, Mr Saginga Nteranya, the Director-General 0f IITA, advised youths to develop a positive outlook of Agriculture and take the series of trainings seriously
