Considering the important role of bees in food production worldwide, dozens of companies have come together to educate consumers on the disappearance of bees and its impact. Companies including Haagen-Dazs, Whole Foods and Burts Bees have joined the fight in preventing the disappearance of one of the most important pollinators.
Bees, though small, are one of the most important topics in sustainability as they are necessary for about eighty (80) per cent of all food crops. Therefore, a company initiative has suggested that the disappearance of bees be salvaged from the source.
General Mills, in partnership with Xerces Society (a non-profit), has committed to house 3,300 acres of bee habitats on farm in its supply chain. General Mills also launched the ‘Bring Back the Bees’ Campaign. The initiative is said to be focused on addressing the challenge from the source.
