The Japanese government has raised a banner against Green House Gas (GHG) emission by proposing a plan for 80% reduction by 2030.
The government intends to achieve this by increasing renewable energy generation and promoting further development of Clean Technology such as Information Technology, Green Transportation, amongst others. It also intends to restart nuclear power reactors with appropriate safety checks done across the country.
The official target of Japan as it relates to GHG emission is a 3.8% reduction against 2005 level by 2020 and a slash in emissions by 26%, against 2013 level by 2030.
These proposed targets will be registered with the United Nations after the international Paris climate agreement is officially ratified in April.
