Nigeria: Labour Minister Pledges 1,800 New Job Opportunities in Next 1 month

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, revealed yesterday during the distribution of starter packs and soft loans to 150 youths trained by the NDE in Sokoto State, that the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) will create 1,800 new jobs in rural areas nationwide in the next one month.

“I have directed the NDE to ensure that every single person that graduates from the scheme is resettled with the requisite equipment for immediate establishment of small scale businesses.”

The minister who was represented by a director in the ministry, Mr Ada Shuaibu, said the new jobs would be created under the Community-Based Training Scheme (CBTS) of the NDE.

‎Acting Director-General of the NDE, Mr Kunle Obayan, explained that resettlement of the trainees was part of efforts to check poverty and unemployment in Nigeria.
