PepsiCo partners with Loop to achieve 100% sustainable packaging.

American multinational food and beverage company PepsiCo has signed a partnership with Packaging producer Loop industries. The two companies have come up with an agreement to introduce 100% recyclable plastic packaging by 2020.

This partnership would not only reduce the amount of plastics used, but will also create recycling awareness to the customers and other companies. Under this new initiative, all paper-based packaging will be obtained sustainably by 2020. A new campaign will be launched to provide recycling information in markets around the world by 2025.

Loop’s technology enables recycling of plastic bottles and packaging of any color, transparency or condition, clothing and other polyester textiles to be converted into plastics for use in food-grade packaging. The PET plastic bottles which will be supplied by Loop industries is said to meet the requirements of the FDA, and will be made using recycled materials.
