September 25, 2016: Celebrating the SDGs at One


It’s been a year since world leaders agreed on a determined set of goals intended to confront the world’s most troubling problems of poverty, hunger, unemployment, climate change, and gender inequality, to mention a few, by 2030. The past year has been about improving understanding and appreciating the development agenda the SDGs represent, and gradually accepting that within this new global framework, all countries are in need of advance development.
To mark this global event, Leaders and CEOs from around the world gathered for the U.N. Private Sector Forum to discuss how businesses play roles in Sustainable Development, particularly the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, which was hosted by the U.N Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
Despite remarkable progress made on each of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Grenada, Minister of Foreign Affairs, says more funds are needed for sustainable development.
“The fact that at least US$2.5 trillion will be needed each year for the SDGs (sustainable development goals) signals the size of the gap that remains to be addressed,” said Grenada
