The Role: Programme Officer

The Program Officer is a member of staff of the Purple Foundation, working in all aspects to include, but not limited to, programme management, grants management, community engagement, donor stewardship, partnership management (donor-advised funds) and events.

Job Description

General Description:

The Programmes Officer will be responsible for program/ project management, and evaluation. He or she will work with organisations as needed to develop proposals for possible funding; keep Executive management informed of organisational activities; maintain close coordination with the Senior Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other programme staff as needed to accomplish program goals and Objectives.

In the performance of his/her duties, under the overall supervision of the Executive Secretary/Senior Programmes Officer, the Programme Officer will ensure the strengthening of the organisation and:

  1. Be responsible for planning, coordination and development of programmes, events, and meetings (internal & external) and field projects that support the organisation’s objectives;
  2. Develop in-depth knowledge of assigned program areas, including current issues and key resource people and organisations, and a clear understanding of how they fit into the Foundation’s interests. Develop and maintain adequate resource files for assigned program areas;
  3. Develop proposals in the assigned initiative programme area(s), ensure that proposal summaries are coherent and accurate, and that all required information is provided;
  4. Provide periodical reviews and reports on the overall effectiveness of each program area;
  5. Contribute to the writing of first class, fundable proposals and reports as necessary for donors and sponsors;
  6. Stay informed about, and follow up as necessary on grant-related issues throughout the grants’ duration;
  7. Establish and meet specific work-related goals as outlined in quarterly work plans and gauged in quarterly and annual statistics;
  8. Write and edit articles, reports, materials, press releases, concept notes for publication in newsletters and online bulletins;
  9. Be responsible for initiating partnerships, measuring and managing tasks for improved project outcomes, donations etc;
  10. Conduct research on activities and issues using the internet, library and other information sources;
  11. Manage the organisation’s online presence (website and social media platforms);
  12. Serve as the primary contact person for the Foundation on all areas, particularly relating to programme management, enquiries, funding and proposals;
  13. Updating the resource library by indexing and filing all publications received, and circulating the publications received;
  14. Development of donors, partners and contacts list and databases and update the information regularly; actively participate in all staff operational/programme meeting;
  15. Liaise with the Foundation’s Account Officer in the preparation of Annual Reports/Budgets;
  16. Develop and maintain adequate resource files for assigned program areas;
  17. Manage and build relationships between the Foundation and funders;
  18. Support the Foundation’s fund management, donor stewardship and community engagement program functions working with the trustees;
  19. Conduct research on issues of concern and focus, and represent the foundation at events and meetings;
  20. The selected candidate will be expected to devote his/her full time to this employment and expend best efforts on behalf of the organization.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree required;
  2. At least three (3) years cumulative experience on Program and/or Project management in a non-profit organisation;
  3. Experience working with a non-profit organisation, especially in the development sector;
  4. Must have an above average proficiency in the use of computer packages (Microsoft office package etc).
  5. Demonstrated success in effectively leading change and organizational growth through strategic planning is a plus.

The Role: Administrative and Finance Officer

The Finance/Administrative Officer is responsible for maintaining day to day financial, accounting, administrative and personnel services in order to meet regulatory requirements and support Purple Foundation’s operations.

Job Description

  • Maintain the accounts payable and accounts receivable systems in order to ensure complete and accurate records of all transactions;
  • Analyse and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting;
  • Work closely and transparently with all external partners including third-party vendors and consultants;
  • Oversee administrative functions as well as facilities to ensure efficient and consistent operations as the organization scales;
  • Monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status;
  • Clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements;
  • Collate financial reporting materials for all donor segments;
  • Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting;
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process;
  • Liaise with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors;
  • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process;
  • Ensure compliance with Foundation policies and procedures and legal requirements;
  • Administer and review all financial plans and budgets;
  • Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the Board of Trustees;
  • Providing project logistical support as required.

Qualification

  • Must have degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Management or other related fields
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role in a not-for-profit with 3-4 years’ experience in financial management, administration and payroll management;
  • Should be resident in Lagos State, Nigeria.
