Today is World Environment Day (WED) and it is the United Nations’ initiative for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. The theme for this year is ‘Go Wild For Life: Zero Tolerance For the Illegal Wildlife Trade.’
Since it began in 1974, it has grown to become a global platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.
More importantly, WED serves as the ‘people’s day’ for taking actions to take care of the Earth or become an agent of change. Events could be focused locally, nationally or globally; it could also be a individualistic or involve a crowd.
This year, Angola is the host country. As people channel their energies toward taking an environmental action on WED, we can all make hugely positive impacts on the planet.
Every action counts: share your WED 2016 events with us!
