World Social Workers Day 2018 set to promote Community and Environmental Sustainability

World Social Work Day (WSWD) for 2018 will take place on the 20th March. It has been recognized each year since 1983 as an opportunity to raise awareness of the vital work of social workers and the contribution they make to the society.

This year’s theme is Promoting Community and Environmental Sustainability. This is the second and final year of this theme of the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development.

Social Workers are said to be one of the first experts in promoting community and environmental sustainability dating back more than 50,000 years even before the environmental damages we are experiencing now.

On the World Social Work Day, which is tomorrow, Social workers would participate in a lot of activities centered on environmental activism and climate change.
