In acknowledgement of the International Women’s Day, the office of the Special Envoy on Gender of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has launched a report on the effects of Ebola on women (Women’s resilience) from the Mano River Union (MRU) countries of Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone.
The study is focused on determining if there is a disparity between the effects of Ebola on men and its effect on women. With a resounding Yes as the answer, and a testimony from VP Fraser Moleketi, the long standing suspicion of the bank’s experts have been confirmed.
The report recommends the establishment of a Social Investment Fund into which the AfDB has since invested thirty-three million dollars ($33,000,000). This project is supported by the U.S. State Department.
The AfDB has high level ambition to improve quality of lives and set the continent on its way to inclusive growth.
