Capital Finance International (CFI co.), a London based journal of global print that also reports on business, economics and finance online, has named Friesland Campina WAMCO, a leading dairy company in Nigeria, the company with the best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in West Africa 2015.
Friesland Campina WAMCO pioneered corporate citizenship in Nigeria in 2004. It has been running three major CSR programmes – A water project, School adoption and financial support to research on food science in six (6) universities with an award for the best graduating student. It has built more than 40 boreholes that are solar-powered and has supported 18 public secondary schools since its inception.
Furthermore, Friesland Campina WAMCO is an active supporter of about thirty (30) charitable organizations and has had various partnerships to offer nutrition relief to Internally Displaced Persons in Northern Nigeria. It also launched a Dairy Development Programme to support the drive to develop agriculture in Nigeria.
Friesland Campina WAMCO has led the dairy industry of Nigeria, having thirteen awards in 2015.
