#Event: Health, Education, and Youth Development Top Nigerian Organisations’ CSR Investments

One of the major factors negating the growth of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in various industries across Nigeria is the dearth of credible data together with perceived philanthropic nature of CSR. However, research study recently conducted by ThistlePraxis Consulting – a Strategy and Assessment Firm, on The State of CSR in Nigeria: 2016 Annual Review offers stakeholders useful information on current trends of CSR in Nigeria.

The Annual Review sought to bridge the CSR information gap in Nigeria by assessing the state of CSR in every industry and gauging the perception of business leaders as to what constitutes CSR practices in the country. It was designed to answer vital questions about the practice of CSR in Nigeria – as an organisational strategy, philanthropy, or as a periodic charitable giving. It therefore examined the impact of CSR spending on businesses and on the entire economy.

Major findings of the report reveal that after five (5) years, health, education, and youth development still rank highest in CSR spending for many Nigerian organisations. This report, The State of CSR in Nigeria: 2016 Annual Review will be presented to industry experts across Nigeria on June 23, 2017 at the Four Points by Sheraton, Victoria Island, Lagos. This year’s review is particularly significant as it will be presented at an event with industry experts across Nigeria where challenges of CSR in Nigeria will be exhaustively discussed.

Dr. Uwem E. Ite – Sustainability and External Relationships Professional, will lead the discussions, while Prof. Abayomi Fawehinmi – Human Resources Professional, Development & Leadership Consultant, Social Entrepreneur, Patriot & Education Enthusiast; Cima Sholotan – Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, IHS Nigeria Limited; Tomiwa Asaolu – External Affairs and Sustainability Manager, Unilever Nigeria; Oyetola Oduyemi – Manager, Corporate and Social Responsibility, Etisalat Nigeria; and Temitayo Ade-Peters – Head, CSR and Sustainability, First City Monument Bank (FCMB), will participate in a reactive panel to share their perspectives and experiences.
