#Event: Paris Agreement Signing Ceremony (22nd April, 2016)

A high level signing ceremony, the first step in implementing the Paris Agreement, will be taking place today, 22nd April, 2016 at the UN Headquarters, New York City.

The Paris Agreement was adopted in Paris, France on 12th December 2015 and must be adopted into the legal system of the participating countries. This agreement is going to be made by 55 countries that contribute about 55% of total emission globally.

National statements will be presented throughout the day and then a high level event on implementation will hold in the afternoon.
