GECCO Initiative to Host a Webinar on Developing Gender Indicators for the Energy Sector

Energy interventions have differentiated impacts on women and men, a fact that is rarely addressed, recorded or assessed by programs and projects. Empirical research suggests that household access to electricity can increase girls’ school enrolment in particular, but generally there is a lack of indicators to identify which type of interventions have the highest, positive impact on the lives of girls and boys, and women and men.

Therefore, to address such issues, the Gender Equality for Climate Change Opportunities (GECCO) initiative will be hosting a webinar on developing gender indicators for the energy sector.

GECCO  is a program launched by USAID and IUCN’s Global Gender Office, aimed at leveraging advancements in women’s empowerment and gender equality through, and for, the benefit of climate change and development outcomes.

The webinar will be held Thursday April 21, 2016
