National Orientation Agency engages NGO on Climate Change

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has engaged the Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF) on Climate Change. The DFID-financed NIAF was designed to provide access to rapid and flexible consulting expertise to help Nigeria improve its infrastructure through policy and strategy formulation, planning, project implementation and private sector investment.

The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri, during the visit, called for responsible action from all Nigerians toward protecting the environment as panacea to climate change. According to reports published on the NIAF website, Omeri made this call during a strategic meeting with the Climate Change Advisor, Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF), Mrs. Chintal Barot and the NOA management in his office on mitigating climate change.

In a statement delivered to newsmen, the NOA DG identified the need for massive sensitization of Nigerians on the meaning, effects and prevention of climate change, saying positive behaviour change is the surest way to stem climate change.

It is anticipated that such cross-agency collaboration will result in sound interventions that yield tangible impact especially in implementing community-based adaptation initiatives.
