Towards A Zero Waste Lifestyle: 5 Rs

We live in a fast-paced world and as a result of the speed with which the current age heralds, a global concern is rearing its ugly head – the contamination of the earth’s space. In the age of modern living, humans are the core contributors to waste creation. The more they consume, the more dirt they create. The question then becomes, if humans continue on this path, how much more can the environment take?

The approved response to the above question has got to be an immediate adjustment in the daily activities of humans as it borders on this subject and all fingers point to adopting a new lifestyle – Zero Waste.

Zero Waste revolve around the conducts of decreasing and possibly eliminating the accumulation and spread of dirt to point zero. In simple terms, the lifestyle of an individual no longer sponsor dirt.

Zero Waste brings to bear a new idea that would definitely preserve the ecosystem in the long run. The need to be conscious of the issues that plague the society should trigger in everyone the desire to be a part of the solution. Most definitely, the start of everything great is little; therefore, with little adjustments, the difference envisaged in the big picture would soon become a reality.

The 5 Rs:

  • Refuse/Reject what is not needed when given.
  • Reduce what is used, especially if it is not currently been in use.
  • Reusing and using what is available until it no longer useful.
  • Repair what can be repaired.
  • Recycle only when the options above have been fully explored.

With these, the Zero Waste lifestyle towards the preservation of the ecosystem would be achieved, one step at a time.
